What is the difference between a software trigger and a hardware trigger?
A software trigger is activated by a software command.
A hardware trigger is activated by an external trigger signal input through the camera’s external I/O connector.
(For USB3 Vision and GigE Vision cameras, the external I/O connector is a 6-pin connector.)
How to set triggers in StViewer:
- Stop image acquisition.
Go to RemoteDevice -> AcquisitionControl -> TriggerMode and set it to ON. - In RemoteDevice -> AcquisitionControl -> TriggerSource, select:
“Software” for software trigger
“LineN” (N = 0, 1, or 2) for hardware trigger
Note:
When LineN is selected, the camera operates with hardware trigger input from the corresponding external I/O connector pin.
