What should be noted when operating a USB3 Vision camera?

The performance of a USB3 Vision camera depends on the capability of the USB3.0 host controller (including its driver) and the stability of power supply from the USB port.

Use one camera per USB host controller for stable power supply and image processing.

When using multiple cameras with a USB hub, use a self-powered USB3.0 hub. Please confirm hub performance with the hub manufacturer.

If the USB3 Vision camera operates unstably, check the following:

Camera frame rate setting

If multiple cameras share one USB host controller, lower the camera’s frame rate and confirm operation.

USB cable length

The USB3.0 specification limits cable length to 3.0 m. If using a cable longer than 3.0 m, replace it with a cable shorter than 3.0 m and check operation.

Host controller driver

Confirm that the driver for the USB3.0 host controller managing the USB port connected to the camera is up to date. Check the host controller manufacturer’s website for updates.

PC USB power management
Depending on the USB selective suspend setting, the USB port power may shut off automatically. Disable power saving mode and confirm operation.
